Moss Free Clinic Recognized for Helping More Than 3,500 Patients Receive Free Prescription Medication

The Moss Free Clinic was recently recognized at the Virginia Association of Free and Charitable Clinics’ (VAFCC) annual conference in Richmond for its role in providing over 3,500 Virginians with free prescription medication to support the improved health of their patients. The community pharmacy at the Clinic provides low-income, uninsured patients across more than 20 cities in the Commonwealth with medication to treat a variety of chronic conditions like diabetes and hypertension because of their partnership in place with the statewide nonprofit, Rx Partnership.

For more than 20 years, the Moss Free Clinic has worked with Rx Partnership to ensure that patients have the critical medication needed to maintain and improve their health without worrying about the cost of their medication.

“The staff and volunteers at Virginia clinics that serve the uninsured provide compassionate and comprehensive care to patients who struggle to afford basic needs – and would likely not see a physician or fill their prescriptions if the clinic wasn’t there for them.” said Amy Yarcich, Executive Director of Rx Partnership. “The clinics serve as an essential safety net for vulnerable patients.”

With 56 percent of Virginians feeling the negative effects of increasing prescription drug prices, and over 20% failing to fill their prescriptions altogether due to costs, the Moss Free Clinic is providing an essential service to our region’s low-income, uninsured adults.

“The support that Rx Partnership provides to our clinic saves our patients thousands of dollars in medication and results in patients being able to take medication as directed – they can see real improvement in their health because of this partnership,” said Karen Dulaney, Executive Director of Moss Free Clinic. “We’re extremely proud of what we can accomplish together, to help treat and heal our patients, who otherwise would go without.”

The Moss Free Clinic received its certificate of recognition from Rx Partnership during the VAFFC conference last month. For more information about our Clinic’s services and how to receive medication assistance, visit mossfreeclinic.org/clinic-services/.
